Residential development, Ard Na Gaoithe, Douglas, Cork City. The design proposal relates to the development of a 0.34ha site in Cork City, in the south central suburb of Douglas.
The site is designed to form a single ‘home zone’ pocket comprising of eight terraced houses of two and three storeys. The design intention is to create a coherent housing development with a specific identity that will promote interaction between the residents and use of the shared spaces via appropriate landscape treatment and planting.
Houses include paved car parking areas within the curtilage, modestly scaled front garden, covered bin storage and generous rear gardens. The arrangement of the front garden spaces act as a visual privacy buffer that enhances the public realm adding to the attractiveness of the environment.
