The project consists of significant alterations and modifications to the administration and back-of-house areas of the Cork Opera House. The administration area is remodelled as a large, split level. Open plan office space, hot desk areas and small canteen. Five new large windows are inserted in the external wall fabric to allow for natural light and views of the river Lee and Shandon.

The storage and scene dock areas on the ground floor are remodelled to allow for better connectivity with the main stage. Changing rooms, bathrooms and circulation areas are also being modified and upgraded.

Construction works take place in a live building and close collaboration is required between the design team and the technical staff of the Opera House to ensure that the functionality of the venue is maintained at all times.
