Administration area refurbishment and fit-out. The project consists of extensive upgrade and refurbishmentto the existing main administration area in Boston Scientific, Cork. The design brief acknowledges changed requirements in Boston Scientific Global Design Standards but also considers outcomes of significant space utilisation studies and surveys carried out by Butler Cammoranesi architects during the early stages of the project.
The site is contained within an old building, part of the curtilage of the Model Farm Institute building. Originally designed for agricultural use, it was converted by UCC to a teaching facility before being acquired by Boston Scientific in 1998.
The refurbishment area is approximately 850sqm and it includes workstations for 88 staff members in an open plan arrangement, 7 private offices, 5 meeting rooms of various sizes, phone rooms, support rooms and break-out areas. The project includes full upgrade of mechanical and electrical services, the introduction of extensive new rooflights in addition to new high quality glazed partitions, ceilings, fittings, finishes and equipment.
